Simla Shimla India Wrestling Tournament Crowd Spectators Vtg. Photo 20thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a large crowd gathers in a circle to watch a wrestling tournament in a mountainous region of Simla, India. Spectators, some holding umbrellas, watch the match in a clearing, with tents and buildings in the background. Simla, now Shimla, served as the summer capital of British India, and traditional wrestling, or Kushti, has long been a popular sport in the region, often featured at local festivals.
