San Francisco Cliff House Seal Rocks Beach Victorian Hotel Vtg. Photo 20thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the grand, seven-story Victorian Cliff House overlooks Seal Rocks and the Pacific Ocean. People in period attire and horse-drawn carriages are seen on the road and beach below. This version of the Cliff House, known as the "Gingerbread Palace," was built in 1896. It survived the great 1906 earthquake but was completely destroyed by a fire in 1907, making this a rare view of the iconic landmark.
