Rome Italy Tomb Cestius PyraCity Gate Shoeshine Boys Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the ancient Pyramid of Cestius stands next to the fortified Porta San Paolo in Rome, with two shoeshine boys and their equipment in the foreground. The pyramid is an ancient tomb for Gaius Cestius, built c. 18–12 BC. It was later incorporated into the Aurelian Walls, a line of city walls which includes the Porta San Paolo gate, seen here with a large cannon positioned before it.
