Peking Beijing Observatory China Astronomical Instruments Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows several large, ornate astronomical instruments are displayed at the Beijing Ancient Observatory in China. The instruments, including an armillary sphere, are supported by intricately carved bases, with one featuring a prominent dragon sculpture. Completed in 1442, the observatory is one of the oldest in the world, and many of the bronze instruments seen were constructed in the 17th century under the direction of Jesuit missionaries.
