New Eddystone Lighthouse Completion Maritime Tower Ocean Rocks Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the newly completed Eddystone Lighthouse stands tall, with people on its gallery. Nearby, the stump of the previous lighthouse, Smeaton's Tower, is being dismantled. This is the fourth lighthouse built on the dangerous Eddystone Rocks in the English Channel. Designed by James Douglass, it was completed in 1882 and remains an important navigational aid.
