Macau Ruins St. Paul's Church Facade Staircase Architecture Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the stone facade and grand staircase of what was once the Church of Mater Dei in Macau. The adjacent buildings are also shown in a state of ruin. Originally part of the 17th-century St. Paul's College, the church was destroyed by a fire during a typhoon in 1835. All that remained was the iconic southern facade, which has since become a famous landmark known as the Ruins of St. Paul's.
