Lake Como dei Fiore Salita Alleyway Stairs Archway Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a steep, cobblestone stairway, or 'salita', ascends through a narrow alleyway in a town on Lake Como, Italy. The path, identified as Via dei Fiore Salita, passes under an arch connecting the old buildings. Lake Como has been a popular retreat since Roman times, and its lakeside towns are characterized by these charming, steep stepped streets that climb the surrounding hills.
