Delhi Durbar Camp Tents Encampment Panoramic Landscape Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a panoramic view shows the vast tent city erected for the Delhi Durbar. The sheer scale of the encampment, stretching to the horizon, is captured from an elevated perspective. The Delhi Durbar was a grand ceremony held in India to mark the succession of a British monarch; the 1911 event, likely depicted here, celebrated the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary as Emperor and Empress of India.
