Berry Pomeroy Castle Totnes Devon Ruins Ivy Covered Gatehouse Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the ivy-clad ruins of Berry Pomeroy Castle in Devon, showing the medieval gatehouse with a young man resting on a bench in the foreground. The shell of the later Elizabethan mansion is visible in the background. The castle was started by the Pomeroy family in the 15th century and later expanded by the Seymours before being abandoned. It is now managed by English Heritage and is reputed to be one of Britain's most haunted castles.
