Wesel German Prisoners WWII Soldiers Marching Ruins Aftermath Vtg. Photo WW2

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a large group of German prisoners of war march through the ruined streets of Wesel, Germany, near the end of World War II. The city was a key strategic target for the Allies due to its position on the Rhine River. In March 1945, Wesel was subjected to intense aerial bombardment and artillery fire, resulting in the destruction of over 97% of its structures, as seen in the extensive rubble.
