Weihai China Royal Navy Fleet Manoeuvres Ship Scaffolding Vtg. Photo 20thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a British Royal Navy vessel is seen during fleet manoeuvres off the coast of Weihai, China. The ship is fitted with a large, unusual scaffolding-like structure, and sailors are visible on deck. From 1898 to 1930, Weihaiwei was a British-leased territory and served as an important summer naval base for the Royal Navy's China Station.
