Seattle Washington Waterfront Piers Docks Boats Ferries Vtg. Photo 20thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows several steamships are docked at piers along the Seattle waterfront, with the city's skyline in the background. Prominently featured is Pier 3, home to Galbraith, Bacon & Co., a major building materials supplier. This scene captures the bustling maritime activity of the Puget Sound's "Mosquito Fleet," which was the primary mode of transportation in the region before the widespread use of automobiles.
