Russian Coachman Hackney Pony Trap Carriage Wooden House Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a Russian coachman, known as an 'izvozchik,' sits in his horse-drawn trap on a dirt road. In the background stands a traditional wooden log house, or 'izba,' with decorative window frames. These hackney carriages were a primary form of urban and rural transportation throughout the Russian Empire before the widespread use of automobiles.
