Paris Hotel de Ville Ruins Commune Siege Destruction Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the ruins of the Hôtel de Ville in Paris after it was destroyed by fire. The building, the seat of Paris's city administration, was intentionally set ablaze by the Paris Commune in May 1871 during the final days of the uprising known as "The Bloody Week." The structure was later rebuilt in the Neo-renaissance style and still stands today.
