This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the grand, multi-storied interior courtyard of the original Palace Hotel in San Francisco, with horse-drawn carriages in its central drive. Opened in 1875, it was the largest and most luxurious hotel in the world at the time. This magnificent structure was famously destroyed in the fire that followed the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
