Ostend WW1 Marines Marching Soldiers Crowd Street Scene Vtg. Photo
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a column of uniformed soldiers, identified as marines, march with rifles down a cobblestone street in Ostend, Belgium. Civilians, including men, women, and children, line the sidewalks to watch the procession. Ostend was a strategically important port city during World War I, occupied by German forces for much of the conflict and was the site of significant naval actions, including famous British raids in 1918.
