Kobe Japan Bund Typhoon Damage Street Scene Architecture Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the aftermath of a typhoon along the Bund in Kobe, Japan. Debris is scattered along the waterfront next to an unpaved street, while Western-style buildings, some with scaffolding, line the road. The Bund, or Kaigan Dōri, was the main street of the Kobe foreign settlement, established after the port opened to international trade in 1868. This area was a hub for commerce and featured prominent European architecture.
