This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows worshipers at the colonnade surrounding the Gyanvapi, or "Well of Knowledge," in Varanasi, India. This sacred well is located at the site of the original Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the most revered Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The mosque that stands there today was built in the 17th century, but the well and colonnade remain a significant place of pilgrimage for Hindus.
