Jerusalem Herod's Gate City Wall Shepherd Sheep Israel Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a shepherd guides a flock of sheep past the ancient stone walls and arched entrance of a gate in Jerusalem's Old City. This is Herod's Gate, known in Arabic as Bab al-Zahra (Gate of the Flowers), one of the main entrances to the Muslim Quarter. The current walls were built in the 16th century under the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, enclosing the historic city.
