Japanese Girls Bathing Hot Tub Traditional Bath House Women Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows several Japanese women in and around a traditional wooden bathtub, or ofuro. An attendant stokes the fire used to heat the water. Communal and private bathing has long been a central part of Japanese culture, and scenes like this were common in homes and inns during the Meiji period.
