Itsukushima Shrine Floating Torii Japan Lantern Monks Water Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the famous 'Floating Torii' gate of the Itsukushima Shrine in Japan, with a stone lantern in the foreground. Two figures in traditional attire are seen near the water. Located on the island of Itsukushima (Miyajima), the shrine is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The iconic torii gate appears to float on the water during high tide, making it one of Japan's most famous views.
