The courtyard of the adjacent Tophane Arsenal is filled with numerous artillery cannons. The Nusretiye Mosque, an example of Ottoman Baroque architecture, was completed in 1826. The Tophane district was historically the imperial armory and a key military-industrial center for the Ottoman Empire.
