India Wrestlers Fighting Bout Men Grappling Match Crowd Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows two wrestlers engage in a fighting bout in India, surrounded by a crowd of spectators. This scene likely depicts Pehlwani, a traditional form of Indian wrestling with a long history in the region. Also known as Kushti, this style of wrestling has been practiced for centuries and often takes place in a clay or dirt pit called an akhara.
