India Amber Palace Old City Fortification Hillside Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a view of the sprawling Amber Palace, also known as Amer Fort, situated on a forested hill in Amer, India, with the extensive fortifications of Jaigarh Fort visible on the ridge above. Amer was the capital of the Kachwaha Rajputs before Jaipur was established. The palace is a principal tourist attraction and a fine example of Rajput architecture, with construction beginning in the late 16th century under Raja Man Singh.
