Great Temple Abu Simbel Egypt Rock Cut Statues Pharaoh Vtg. Photo 19thC.

This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows the facade of the Great Temple at Abu Simbel, showing the colossal rock-cut statues of Pharaoh Ramesses II. This image captures the monument before its relocation, with one statue notably broken from an ancient earthquake. Built in the 13th century BC, the temples were a monument to Ramesses II and his queen Nefertari. The entire complex was relocated in the 1960s to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
