Chinkiang Zhenjiang China Bund Waterfront Harbor Boats Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a view of the bustling waterfront, or bund, in Chinkiang (modern-day Zhenjiang), China. The harbor is crowded with traditional Chinese boats and junks, while the tree-lined street shows daily life and period architecture. Chinkiang was a significant treaty port on the Yangtze River, opened to foreign trade in the mid-19th century. Its strategic location at the junction of the Yangtze and the Grand Canal made it a crucial commercial center.
