Chinese Barber Cutting Hair Man's Queue Hairstyle China Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a Chinese barber shaves a customer's head to maintain the traditional queue hairstyle. Next to them is the barber's portable stand with tools of the trade. This hairstyle, featuring a shaved forehead and a long braid, was enforced upon Han Chinese men during the Qing dynasty (1644–1912) as a symbol of submission to Manchu rule.
