China Graveyard Cemetery Coffins Ground Burial Man Rural Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows a man stands in a rural Chinese landscape where numerous coffins are left unburied on a hillside near water. This practice, known as deferred burial, was common in parts of southern China, where families would leave coffins above ground while awaiting an auspicious time and place for final burial, often determined by feng shui.
