Chefoo Yantai China Boats Beach Coastline Buildings Harbor Vtg. Photo 19thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows several boats resting on a sandy beach in the harbor of Chefoo, China. In the background, Western-style buildings line the waterfront and dot the hillside. Chefoo, now known as Yantai, became an important treaty port in the mid-19th century, which led to the establishment of a significant foreign presence and the construction of the architecture seen here.
