Amoy Xiamen China Coastal View Cityscape Architecture Sailors Vtg. Photo 20thC.
This quality reprint of a vintage photo shows an elevated view of the coastal city of Amoy (now Xiamen), China, showing a mix of Western-style buildings, a sports field, and the sea. Amoy was one of the original treaty ports opened to foreign trade in the 19th century, leading to the development of an international settlement known for its unique colonial architecture, as seen in this photograph. The presence of Western sailors in the foreground highlights the city's international character at the time.
